Description | On July 22, 2021, PG&E announced its commitment to underground 10,000 miles of electric lines to help reduce the risk of major wildfires and address the challenge of climate change. This work is unprecedented and represents the largest effort in the U.S. to underground power lines as a wildfire risk reduction measure. We seek partners in thought and action, with courage and conviction, that will challenge us, share our commitment, and co-create what will become the country’s most modern and expansive underground electric system. This effort will require PG&E to increase the pace and volume of work required to meet the undergrounding of overhead lines, while meeting our commitment to a diverse and inclusive supply chain. Diverse suppliers include small business enterprises (SBE) and enterprises owned by women (WBE), minorities (MBE), service-disabled veterans (DVBE), and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals (LGBTBE). As PG&E refines its undergrounding program execution strategy, we anticipate material and services needs to include, but are not limited to the following: • Underground Construction Services • Civil Construction Services o Excavation Grading & Paving including Initial Grading (greenfield site), Final Grading, Roadway Preparation • Other Professional services o Soil Testing o Land & Environmental Services • Other Support services o Aggregate o Hauling o Traffic Control o Inspection o Construction Management o Ready Mix Concrete o Saw Cutting o Trench Plate Rentals o Sewer Camera Inspection • Engineering Services • EPC: Engineering, Procure, and Construction Services • Electric Materials |
Requirements | Supply Chain Responsibility Requirements Suppliers supporting this work are expected to provide a detailed description of their Supplier Diversity and Environmental Sustainability program. Minimum requirements include, but are not limited to the following: Safety, Gold Shovel, California Contractor’s License, Union Affiliations, etc. depending on the services and/or materials provided. See attached COA document for detailed requirements, registration deadlines and documentation instructions. |
